One of our greatest goals is to have a constant source of pure water for these villagers.  Ongoing education of the children and adults is necessary to help them realize the relationship of contaminated water to their health problems.
We are currently working in three areas: a water filtration process, a system of water purification using the ultrasonic rays of the sun and finding a means to fund the cost of running a pump to a well that could provide a regular source of water.

Randy Ruch demonstrates how to use the "tippy-tap system" to wash your hands

Randy Ruch and Ismael Martinez are demonstrating the new "tippy-tap" system we've introduced to the villages to enable the people to wash their hands easily and effectively.  Four are currently in front of the school and many villagers are installing in their homes. There were even Americans in our own group who want to put one in their own back yards!

Annie Archer writes a book to show the children the importance of washing their hands!

Author Annie Archer found out about SewHope and our work in Guatemala. As an author who truly cares about the health of children, she wrote a book about the importance of washing your hands!  She has generously donated 120 of her books (entitled Lavese Sus Manos)  to our organization. Here, you can see one of the children reading the book as the others "WASH THEIR HANDS!!" Thank you Annie!

Below you can view the video produced by Sodis that we are using to show the children how they can be involved in a simple water purification system.
