Our projects are all aimed at improving the overall physical, spiritual and mental health of the communities we serve.
We send regular medical mission teams to work in a clinic in the village of Pueblo Nuevo. Centrally located in the Santa Ana region of El Peten, Guatemala, this clinic provides services to at least 6 surrounding villages.
1.Provide the clinic with necessary medications and supplies. Work to improve the training of the local health promoter and to enable young people who have an interest in health care to receive the education the need.
2.Reduce the incidence of cervical cancer in this region through pap smear testing, colposcopy and cryotherapy
3. Improve prenatal care through regular prenatal visits including ultrasound and provision of prenatal vitamins.
4. Improve the health of children in this community through improved nutrition, clean water, vitamins, pediatric care in the clinic and education regarding sanitation
5. Provide health education seminars to health providers and patients
6. Provide composting latrines to each home in the villages we serve
7. Provide de-worming medicines every six months to all people in the villages we serve
8. Improve dental health of the children through fluoride treatments every six months as well as education and provision of toothbrushes to each child.
9.Continue to broaden our relationship with Hospital San Benito by providing them with needed surgical equipment and supplies and to assist them in surgery if needed.
10. Improve the education of the children of the local villages through provision of books and supplies and support of the local teachers. Provide infrastructure where needed.
11. Provide the children with a nutritious meal 3-5 days per week.
12. Facilitate the development of vegetable gardens in the communities
13. Work with the communities to explore options for microfinance.
14. Continue to work with the community leaders to identify areas which will develop self sustaining programs
15. Work with the University of Toledo to provide mission opportunities for their students to begin to understand the challenges of healthcare in developing countries.
16. Demonstrate the love of Chris in all of our projects and share that love with all we serve.
