My Dad reminded me last night that so many times throughout the Bible God uses people to do jobs for which they are not well-equipped or trained. It has been amazing to watch a 12-year-old, two 16-year olds, their grandparents, and a capable engineer mud and sand drywall like pros! Ed, Dad, Brent and Rudy spent over an hour pounding a small hole in a concrete wall in order to connect a wire for an electrical circuit. The ladies (Alex, Lyndsey, mom and I) can't seem to keep up with cleaning the messes the boys make!
Little by little, the pieces are coming together! It is hard to believe that we are putting the finishing touches on an 2-year project that started as a dream of an illiterate comedronas from a small Guatemalan village!
I am so thankful for my family!! My parents have been so supportive (financially as well as in many other ways) of SewHope, and especially this birthing center project. My children have worked many hours without complaining...they are amazing. And my husband has adopted this as his own and is now the boss (2nd only to Ismael!).
By tomorrow, all of the electricity will be complete, drywall should be nearly complete, and painting walls will be underway. Woodworking is looking great as well!
Stay tuned for pictures of the 'Inauguration' of the 'Casa Materna' on Saturday!
