Thank you to everyone who came out to help!
In partnership with Kids Coalition Against Hunger, Seagate Food Bank, and Toledo Rotary Clubs, SewHope held a second Community Food Packing Event on April 9th. As COVID continues to run rampant through Guatemala, families who live in dire poverty are being pushed to the brink of starvation. White flags rise across the country, symbols of families surrendering themselves to hunger.

The need for food is urgent and great in both Toledo and Guatemala. In 2020 alone, SewHope distributed over 35,000 emergency food packs to starving families in Guatemala. In the Toledo area, one in five children face food insecurity and daily hunger. A shipment of 250,000 meals recently arrived at SewHope's campus in Guatemala. These meals will make immediate impact on the community of Santa Ana.

Thank you to everyone who came to our November 2021 event! On November 13th, nearly 250 people gathered at St. John's Jesuit High School. Over the course of about 4 hours, more than 60,000 meals were packed! SewHope is extremely grateful for everyone involved and is hoping to send a shipping container of these meals to Guatemala by the end of this year.
If you missed this amazing event, do not worry! SewHope and the Toledo Rotary Clubs are hosting a second event on April 9, 2022, and will need volunteers and fundraisers. |
Who are we doing this for?Meet Luis, a 10 year SewHope student. The pandemic has closed schools in Guatemala and cost many people their jobs. Now many students, just like Luis, are working to help supplement their family's income in order to be able to afford food.
