“God is always talking to me when I am in Guatemala.”
Hello to Jessie and Kelsy!!! Jessie is the second son of Ismael and Orfe. He is home from the States for the summer, Also here for two weeks is Kelsy Grefe, Spanish teacher at Maumee Valley Country Day School. Bienvenidos Kelsy and Jessie!
These two have teamed up to teach some of the primary school students in the afternoons. I have had the privilege of watching them in action. It is a match made in heaven!. The children are very responsive to this team, and Kelsy and Jessie are just great with the kids! Kelsy being so familiar with the language and with the experience of a teacher has just jumped right in. She has a very welcoming personality and finds unique ways to engage the class as well as individual students. I am very impressed with Jessie! The kids just love him! He is very attentive to the students and finds ways to keep them engaged in the projects. He has also taken the initiative in several things which I find exciting. He held a short discussion with the class today. I was amazed at his confident and gentle command of the room and his organized way of presenting to the students.
Goodbye students and teachers for a two week vacation! Since I leave for my vacation on the same day that the students return to class, we will be separated for two months. I am very sad about that! It is my hope that enough groundwork has been set with the programs that the teachers will be able to move forward in my absence.
Even though the students do not have class, the small group of 24 wants to continue meeting! Actually the response that Jessie got when asking them about this was an overwhelming YES! We just love the enthusiasm.
Enjoy the pictures!!
