ACADEMIC PROGRAM FAST FACTS

• SewHope's education program is a half-day after-school program designed as a supplement to the public education system. All public schools are also only half-day programs. Our program is faith based, and religion class is part of the curriculum.
• SewHope employs cutting-edge online curriculums that adapt to an individual student's needs. Our students have access to programs such as Raz-Kids and Khan Academy.
• SewHope staff uses direct instruction, small group work, games, songs, crafts, and more to engage all types of learners.
• We employ two full-time, certified Guatemalan teachers.

​HEALTH & WELLNESS FAST FACTS

Our students' health & wellness is just as important (if not more so!) than their academic achievement. With that in mind, SewHope's education program also includes:

• A snack at the beginning of the school session, and a nutritiously fortified meal at the end of the session, for each student.
• Fluoride treatments, anti-parasitical treatments, and vitamin supplementation for each student.
• Public health lessons that teach the process to grow and harvest crops, and how to raise chickens.
• Hygiene lessons and toothbrushing time after the meal.
• A social worker, who visits families and connects students & families with community services.
• A nurse, who monitors general well-being and is on-hand for any health concerns. We track our students' height and weight to screen for malnutrition, and work with the families of undernourished children to develop solutions.

What's new?

MARCH 2022: ​Our new school is nearing completion! We have a record 160 students enrolled in our half day program, and by 2023, we anticipate to be a certified school, offering full day classes to our students! Keep checking back for updates!
